Additional Tips on Fats And Oil
- Monounsaturated Oils -- like olive oil and canola oil are THE healthiest fats. These are the preferred oils for cooking.
- Polyunsaturated Oils -- like corn oil and sesame oil are helpful in lowering bad cholesterol. Eat only in moderation though as there is a risk of developing cancer if eaten in excess.
- Saturated Oils -- like coconut oil and palm kernel oil aren't very good for your heart health. Do use them only in very small amounts.
- Trans fats -- like vegetable shortening and margarine are artery-clogging fats. They should be avoided at all cost.
- Essential Fatty Acid like Omega-3s -- are contained in Canola Oil and Fish Oil. They are great for the heart and can help prevent the onset of diabetes and heart disease.
